The front, back and sides are duchess satin. The side, back and side front are an amazing cotton gauze with a pattern embroidered on it with a clear thread. The side gores are made from hand pleated silk taffeta, as is the bow. The pleated trim is about a 100 years old, it came from an amazing Victorian mourning skirt. The darkest shade of black is the velvet used for the pipping and binding.

This corset is made from an original pattern and is strong and very well constructed. It is backed with coutil and corset with reinforced seams, waist tape and a steel busk. It has 24 steel bones; a combination of spring and spiral steel. Like all my corsets it has a large number of small two part eyelets closely spaced to evenly distribute the pressure along the centre back. They are even more closely spaced at the waist as that is the part of the corset that takes the most pressure. An under-busk modesty panel assures that skin isn't pinched when or revealed when wearing the corset. This corset is suitable for tight-lacing. It comes with a boned back modesty panel. It also has 6 garter tabs. Garters can be purchased separately.
